Two years ago I posted this picture with the scripture below…I posted this just as I was going up the first big hill on the rollercoaster ride I will call “My Job Years”…the past few years have been filled with loops, hills and spirals…each one trying to derail the car…test after test that was meant to make me question my foundation but instead made me confirm it.
People say life isn’t fair as if somewhere it is written that it should be fair…bad things happen to good people and good things happen to bad people…no one is exempt from pain and devastation just as no one is exempt from happiness and joy. I believe YOU decide whether you are happy or not. No one controls your happiness nor is anyone responsible for creating your “happy world.” Go out and get it…create it! When life knocks you down…get back up and say back, “is that the best you’ve got?!” The only thing you can control in life is your attitude and how you choose to respond/react to situations.
I posted this quote not knowing what the next two years were going to bring…immense pain, stress, uncertainty…but I can say I still believe this quote to be true. I’ve found myself in a place of freedom, joy and security through it all.
One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” (Matthew 22:35-40 NIV)
