Day 1 – May 11
Our day started with driving to the airport at 3:30 am. We discovered we had to leave at 3:30 at 12:30 am so I decided I would not go to sleep thinking I could pass out on the airplane.
I got middle seat so it did not happen. We got to see some pretty skies on our first flight to LAX. We had a short layover, and by short I mean just enough time for one of us to go to the bathroom, and headed to our final destination Oakland. We touched down at around 9:30 am PST.
We picked up the rental, got some lunch and stopped to shop for a few things. Then we made our way out to Shaver Lake. It was a beautiful windy road up the mountain. My Dad had a wonderful time driving! We were reminiscing on the days when we lived in North Carolina and used to ride on roads like this all the time. He had a blast speeding around the turns and I had fun trying to hold onto my GoPro while being halfway out the window.
I’m teaching my Dad the art of the selfie…so we’ll see how that goes! 🙂 This little town is quite charming and the people are too. Excited for what Day 2 brings!
