California Adventure Day 2

Day 2 – May 12
We woke up late today after having such a long travel day with little sleep. Our hotel is an hour and a half away from Bass Lake (where the half marathon is). When we walked outside it was cold and misty. We drove the mountainous route to the expo so I could pick up my race bib for tomorrow morning. We stopped in Oakhurst and did a little shopping. I was on the hunt for some light gloves for tomorrow morning. All the places we went to said they had already packed up their gloves. Apparently their idea of cold and mine are quite different. I got some tights lined with fleece for tomorrow and a few other things at a nice little sporting goods shop.

We arrived at the expo around 4:30. It was pretty cool because it was outside near the finish line. Many photo ops. So you know that made me happy! 🙂 I took a picture at the finish line and a few others in the Bass Lake area.

We decided to do a little exploring after picking up all of my materials. We drove up to Glacier Point and saw the most incredible views. I will let the pictures speak for themselves! The area was pretty crowded as photographers were posted waiting for the sun to set on Half Dome. I found an area off the path and walked down a trail to an absolutely beautiful spot and took the panoramic of the trip. I was there alone with my Dad about 75 feet behind me watching me do my thing. It was so relaxing and I just couldn’t get over what I was seeing before me.

I didn’t bring my coat out with me and it got super cold. My hands were absolutely numb but I was still finding ways to take pictures.

We stopped at Denny’s on our way back to the hotel for a little pre race grub. We didn’t get back to the hotel until around midnight. We need to be up tomorrow at around 2:00 to leave by 2:45-3:00 am. It’s going to be a short night.
Come back later for the Day 2 video!
